3 one-hour belly dance classes

Belly dancing has many beneficial effects during pregnancy, namely the strengthening of the abdominal muscles, the birth canal and the pelvic floor area which give combined support for the birthing process. Whilst dancing, the body postures you will adopt will induce an optimum engagement of the foetus. It will also benefit your back and center of balance which are unsettled during pregnancy. Beside the physical benefits, belly dancing also enables women’s bodies to be geared up for giving birth at the most fundamental level through a reawakening of the ancient bodily wisdom. In the article “Giving to Light: Dancing the bay into the World” professional belly dancer Carolina Varga Dinicu (aka Morocco) writes about going to Casablanca in 1967 and witnessing a group of women supporting another woman in labor by belly dancing with her, a common ancient practice in many areas of the Middle East. .
